Looking for something to do on the weekends? Join Make its for hands-on, family-friendly activities, inspired by the Museum’s collection and exhibitions.
In this workshop, architect and artist Emilie Queney invites families to explore, through play, how buildings can be designed for the changing environment. As a family, design then build small scale buildings using natural materials. Play with the shape of the building, experiment with where the walls are and the roof.
Test keeping your model cool using light for the sun and a fan for the wind. Find ways to improve your building after each test.
Book onto this workshop to explore architecture through hands-on experimentation. You’ll work with corrugated card, wooden sticks, paper, leaves, raffia, twigs, and other materials.
As a family you’ll come away the experience of experimenting with building design and have a model of a building to take home.
Come along to learn some new skills as a family. Let your child take the lead but work together as a family to explore designing and creating. You can join Make it workshops, which tend to happen, on the last Saturday of every month and during a school holiday.
