Sumi Painting with Koshu photo
In this two-day workshop, Master Koshu will teach you the fundamental techniques and guide you through the creative process of Sumi painting. On the first day, you will learn basic brush movements and ink control techniques, which you will use to create two of the Shikunshi (‘Four Gentlemen’) artworks, the orchid flower and bamboo. The second day will build on the previously covered techniques and explore bokashi (ink blurring) to paint koi fish in a pond. The workshop will finish with a masterclass on how to put the backing paper to strengthen and straighten your artwork in preparation for framing.

All materials provided, this workshop is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those looking to refresh their knowledge. Open to participants aged 18 and above.
