Dahye Jeong, the 2022 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize winner, will demonstrate her technique of working with horsehair at the V&A, showcasing how she transforms flat fibres into intricate three-dimensional forms. Dahye's inspiration comes from Korean men's headwear, worn between 1392 and the end of the 19th century, which often signified the wearer's social status. After designing her shapes, Dahye creates wooden molds and weaves the horsehair using a single needle.

Dahye Jeong comes from the furthest southern part of the Korean peninsula, Jeju Island. Her parents own a natural dye workshop with acres of land filled with many different plant species. Dahye won the Grand Prize at the Cheongju International Craft Competition in 2021. In 2022, Dahye also won the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, the decision was unanimous, and she has become a “cultural ambassador” for Korea.
