Young V&A is open seven days a week. General admission is free and you don’t need to book. There may be some queues to get in to the museum at busy times during the school holidays, including weekends.
There are three big galleries at Young V&A, called Imagine, Play and Design. There are sometimes exhibitions which may carry an entrance charge, but there's always something to do.

- Buses 106, 254, 388 and D6 stop nearby
- A bike station is nearby or park your bike in front of the museum

Parking cars nearby is limited, so we advise using public transport. The nearest accessible parking spaces are at Parmiter Street.
Access
The nearest step-free access station is Whitechapel (0.8 miles).
Our entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible.
If you'd like to borrow a wheelchair, fill in this accessibility aid form at least 24 hours in advance of your visit.
Disabled visitors are entitled to discounted exhibition tickets. You can add a free companion or carer ticket to every disabled ticket. Find out What's On and book online.

Facilities
Toilets
Our toilets are across the building.
Baby changing facilities are in both men's and women's toilets on the lower ground floor.
Accessible toilets are on the lower ground floor. We have a Changing Places toilet. Ask for the key at the Welcome Desk. .
Buggy park
Buggy parking is available in the Welcome Area near the main entrance. An overflow buggy park may be in use during peak times. Personal belongings are left at your own risk.
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is welcome in all areas of Young V&A. If you need more privacy you can use the Reading Room on the lower ground floor, or the Common Room during weekends or school holidays.
Lifts
The main lift is on the right as you enter the Town Square. Another lift can be found at the back of the Imagine Gallery.
Shops
The Young V&A Main Shop, on the ground floor, is open during museum opening hours. You can also shop online.
We proudly champion UK designers and manufacturers, as well as supporting artisans and social enterprises from all over the world.
The V&A is a charity and every purchase made in our shops helps to support us.
Food
The Town Square Café is open 10.00 – 17.00 Monday to Sunday, with a range of hot and cold meals, cakes and pastries, teas and coffee. Children can pick from our lunchtime meal boxes. Highchairs and bottle warming facilities are available.
You are welcome to bring cold food and drink. Our cafe has a bottle warmer and a microwave.
You can eat your packed lunch in the:
- Town Square
- neighbouring Museum Gardens
- Common Room (on weekends and during Tower Hamlets school holidays only)
School groups with a pre-booked workshop will automatically be allocated a lunch slot in the Community Room. Lunch slots for self-directed groups visiting our galleries are subject to availability.

Birthday parties
We don't host birthday parties at Young V&A. We can't accommodate hot food, sharing platters, cakes or candles, and we don't allow visitors to reserve public spaces or decorate areas with balloons or bunting.
Costumes and dressing up
Children aged 14 and under are welcome to wear costumes and express themselves by dressing up at Young V&A, as long as their faces aren't fully covered.
For safeguarding reasons, visitors over the age of 14 are not permitted to wear costumes or dress up at the Young V&A. Masks of any kind may not be worn except for medical or religious purposes.
Lockers and luggage
There are 24 free storage lockers on the lower-ground floor, available for use on a first-come, first-served basis.
Luggage with wheels, and bags larger than 56 × 45 × 21cm, are not allowed in the galleries. We don't have facilities to store large luggage.
The Reading Room
This space offers a calming environment for:
- prayer
- reading
- breastfeeding
- a break from sensory stimulation
On the lower ground floor, first-come, first-served.
Balloons
Helium balloons are not allowed inside the museum.
