If you've not already visited, the Members' Room is a magnificent top-lit gallery, designed with contemplation, creative thought and enjoyment in mind. For many, this unique space is the best reason to be a V&A Member.
Formerly a study room between 1916 – 21, the innovative design by Carmody Groarke subtly combines heritage, modernity and design ingenuity. The furniture also provides a link to the 20th-century collections, including a recommissioning of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto's stackable 403 armchair from the early 1930s.
The centrepiece of the Members' Room is a monolithic terrazzo bar, which includes prosecco on tap, a range of bottled beers, wine, and bespoke cocktails inspired by the V&A's exhibition programme.
