Shadow Kingdom: Shadow Puppetry in Motion

Experience the magic and craft of shadow puppetry in this special performance by Mochinosha and the Wishes Mystical Puppet Company. Hundreds of hand-cut puppets flicker to life, creating a cinematic illusion in real time. Shadow Kingdom blends traditional and modern shadow puppetry techniques to tell the story of a child’s journey through a world where night never ends and sleep is forbidden. 

Daniel Wishes (Canada) and Seri Yanai (Japan) craft intricate silhouettes, transforming light and shadow into a live animated movie before your eyes. Experience the art of shadow puppetry in motion.

Mochinosha was founded in 2012 by Canadian artist Daniel Wishes and Japanese artist Seri Yanai. The two met while studying puppetry together at the London School of Puppetry. Mochinosha creates and performs with shadow puppetry, marionettes, rod puppets and glove puppets. They have created dozens of original shows and performed in festivals in Canada, Japan, Armenia, Indonesia, Brazil, America and the UK.
