Guardian News & Media Archive – tour 2

The GNM archive, held in the basement of the newspapers’ London headquarters, holds a wealth of records documenting the histories of the Guardian and Observer. Members will catch a rare glimpse of the inside of the basement stores and be shown a selection of treasures from the collections, including the first edition of the Manchester Guardian, Kim Philby’s Observer staff file and the dismantled external hard drive that once held the NSA data leaked by Edward Snowden. This is also a unique opportunity to hear, first-hand, the challenges of managing such historically significant material.
