Lunchtime Lecture: Gabrielle Enthoven - The Theatrical Encyclopedia photo

Gabrielle Enthoven’s remarkable collection of theatrical memorabilia was the foundation of the V&A’s Theatre and Performance Collection that was accepted by the museum 100 years ago. Comprising over 80,000 playbills, it was a unique and groundbreaking initiative to gather research material related to London theatre. Curator Cathy Haill will examine Enthoven’s life and work, and introduce a ‘lost’ portrait of her by Ethel Wright.

Cathy Haill is the Curator of Theatre and Popular Entertainment whose specialist interests include pantomime, puppetry, circus, toy theatre, music hall, variety, magic, musical theatre, theatrical printing and advertising, souvenirs, ephemera, and 19th-century theatre.
