Memory Making with Leather

Join Modular by Mensah for an inspiring workshop which explores techniques of printing and embossing on leather. Leather is a natural medium for storytelling. It holds memories which complement the material’s natural features.

Memory Making with Leather photo
Participants will be introduced to memories inspired quotes from American author Audre Lorde’s essay ‘Poetry is Not a Luxury’. They will be then guided to write their own poetry to create both textual and visual impressions on the leather pieces. Scraps of leather will be upcycled through writing, printing and embossing.
 
Lorde’s writing is a key inspiration for Modular by Mensah’s installation ‘Unhide: Reframing Luxury’. The workshop part of London Design Festival programme at V&A South Kensington.
