The course will look at the story of the wedding ring which began in Roman times and how the diamond came to be associated with betrothal and marriage and gemstones emblems of desire and passion. Decorative motifs such as clasped hands, lovers’ knots, crowned hearts, Cupid’s arrows, flowers with hidden messages, snakes and butterflies were imaginatively used by jewellers to create magnificent jewels as symbols of romantic love.
This course has a Half Term break on 29 May • Please note that in Week 2 the session will be moved to Thursday 7 May as Friday 8 May is a Bank Holiday. All other sessions will run on Fridays.
