You will be introduced to the headline exhibition NAOMI in Fashion with a special presentation by Senior Curator Sonnet Stanfill who will discuss the model’s iconic 40-year career. Access to the NAOMI in Fashion exhibition is included in your ticket.
You will also have a choice of tours across the museum exploring Africa and Caribbean led by our amazing African Heritage Guides. Enjoy hands-on practical workshops inspired by the NAOMI in Fashion exhibition, including recycled aluminium fashion accessories with Jackie Mwanza, Artistic Director of Ubuntu Museum, and repurposing preloved clothing with Dionne Gooding of the Dionne Gooding brand. A key element of the day will be the Designer Advice Market - your chance to meet and chat with North Kensington designers about their designs and what it is like to work in the creative industries:
This event is suitable for adults interested in the creative history of Africa and the Caribbean, fashion, style, craft-making, developing innovative ideas, searching for themes of inspiration, or possible creative pathways, and learning more about the challenges of a career in the creative industries.
We recommended you bring a packed lunch to consume in our Lunchroom at your leisure.
NOTE: This Festival Day has been planned for 60 visitors across the Kensington community. You will have an events programme to help navigate your day in the museum. Please ask a member of the event staff for assistance. This event will be filmed and photographed, and you will also have the chance to share your views about the day.
