How could participatory opera in virtual reality address conflict? photo

Imagine two people with opposing viewpoints. They might be neighbours or from different countries, or might never have met. They immerse themselves in a virtual reality environment and through a series of workshops and performance create an opera together.

Tim Hopkins and Robert Thomas present and discuss findings from their research, investigating the potential to create an opera taking place in VR which aims to address conflict.

Tim Hopkins is an opera director and theatre maker, currently investigating opera and the digital realm. Robert Thomas is a composer and programmer who creates music which adapts in realtime to the listener using algorithms, procedural generation and AI.
