Petr Stanický is an artist working from a wide material knowledge and extensive skill base, moving between representational and abstract art, traditional and non-traditional materials. Displayed in light-filled vestibules adjacent to the V&A Glass and Ceramics galleries, these pieces explore the characteristics of our residence in non-uniform spaces.
Stanický says ‘these works exist at a crossroads that lies between genuine shapes and forms, and those merely suggested by the sculptures’ imaginative illusory evocations. The mirroring effect of their glass surfaces; the juxtaposing of flat planes and dimensionality, stemming from a stratified mesh of metal; and the accompanying enigmatic walls of glass, draw the observer into a variegated world.’
