Are You Having a Laugh? - 3 March photo

A humorous romp through the spectacular Theatre & Performance collection, looking at what it is that makes us laugh. Is it the written word such as the patter songs of Gilbert and Sullivan? Is it physical things like Tommy Cooper’s Fez or Eric Morecambe’s glasses? Or is it the comedian’s greatest gift ……wait for it ….. timing. We will explore the wonderful collection of scripts, costumes and props from the last four hundred years held by the V&A from Punch and Judy to Billy Connolly and ask the question, “Why do we laugh?”
