Beatriz Chadour-Sampson

Beatriz Chadour-Sampson works as a freelance international jewellery historian, curator of exhibitions and scholarly author. She was the consultant curator in the re-designing of the William and Judith Bollinger Jewellery Gallery at the V&A (opened in 2008), London and was guest curator of the ‘Pearl’ exhibition (2013-14).

Throughout history pearls have been venerated for their lustre and beauty. In Europe the myths and legends surrounding this gem range from power and authority, to purity and chastity and even seductiveness. Through the introduction of the cultured pearl in the early 20th century pearls have become an affordable adornment and a timeless jewel.
