Japan: Myths to Manga
Supported by Toshiba
Join artist Naomi Ellis to create your own marbled papers using the traditional Japanese technique of suminagashi (or “floating ink”) inspired by the Myths to Manga exhibition.
Working in pairs by the end of this two-hour workshop, you will have a number of your own monochrome marbled papers to take home with you!
This workshop is part of the Make-Lab series which offers opportunities for adults and children to work with professional artists, learning new creative skills together.
There are two workshop times to choose from: 10.30-12.30 and 14.00-16.00. Please arrive 10 minutes before your start time.
Naomi's work demonstrates an interest in geology, water and maps, drawing inspiration from remote islands and satellite imagery. She was significantly influenced by her time studying traditional sculpture, paper-making, and painting techniques in Kyoto, Japan.
