Develop your class’s creative confidence in one of our specially designed primary workshops. Our sessions, led by museum learning facilitators, will engage students with objects and themes in the Young V&A galleries and equip them with key creative skills that support the national curriculum. Each session can accommodate 1 class (maximum 30 students). We have two different Primary workshops, with multiple dates and timeslots (10.30-11.30, 11.45-12.45 or 13.00-14.00) to choose from. Each session is 60min long. Click below to find out more about the session.

KS1 or KS2: Hero Arm
Key curriculum links: Design & Technology and Citizenship
Find out what makes us all amazing in this super new design session. Using the inspirational case study, Open Bionics’ ‘Hero Arm’, pupils will take part in creative design activities to explore this affordable, customisable prosthetic arm for people with born or acquired limb differences. This session will help learners develop empathy, expand their creative confidence, and understand how design can celebrate what makes us unique.

KS2: Think Small
Key curriculum links: Design & Technology, Geography and Citizenship
Put your students in role as architects and clients in this playful introduction to user-centred design. Develop a design brief for an animal’s home, before experimenting to design and build it using our miniature ‘Imagination Playground’ and other creative materials. This session will help learners understand how design can meet user needs. They will develop empathy and gain confidence with collaboration.

As part of your booking, we will also reserve a 30-minute lunch slot in our Portal Trust Community Room for your group.

You will receive an automated booking confirmation. If the information received is incorrect, please contact young@vam.ac.uk.
