The V&A is an outstanding showcase for the study of different cultures. This study day explores the shifting identities of the city of Constantinople and its connections with Italy between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance periods between the 13th and 16th centuries.

V&A Academy Unlocked days invite you behind the scenes, bringing you face-to-face with the V&A's extraordinary collections. Join us for an object handling session to experience some of the finest V&A collection objects. Enjoy a gallery tour that you will get up close to objects from the V&A’s collection and is expertly led by Antonia Gatward who will give you an introductory lecture in the morning to delve into the topic of this study day.

This Unlocked study day is designed to complement the 12-week online course 'Art and the City: Antiquity to Renaissance' led by Kathy McLauchlan but you do not need to be enrolled on any online course to join an 'Unlocked' event.
