V&A Uncovered: Collections and Curators (Part 1)

Led by V&A Curators, past and present, as well as leading experts in the field, gain unprecedented insight into our collections. Part 1 includes a visit to the Clothworkers’ Centre and V&A storage facility at Blythe House, alongside lectures exploring jewellery, fashion and furniture. Part 2 of this course will begin in January 2019. It is possible to book both or each as individual terms.

Jenny Phelan studied History of Art and Architecture at Trinity College Dublin and Museum Studies at UCL. She has worked in a number of large institutions around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Ireland. Jenny programmes adult courses at the V&A including Year, Short, Evening and Weekend courses.

I loved getting an overview of the V&A, and the chance to start to understand how and why galleries were arranged as they are. I also loved the infectious enthusiasm of the curators! 2017/8 course student

Course overview

This course explores the V&A through its Curators and Collections in a combination of lectures, gallery visits, studio trips, and handling sessions. Discover more about the Museum and its vast collections including fashion, metalwork, photography, sculpture, and much more.
