Refugee Week 2018
In collaboration with Counterpoints Arts
Join Natalie Kane, V&A Curator for Digital Design and Professor Lucy Orta, UAL Chair of Art and the Environment and part of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, for a Passagens ‘walk & talk’ session at the V&A.
Examining issues of migration and environmental change in reference to the V&A collection, Natalie and Lucy will discuss the museums’ approach to Rapid Response Collecting, where objects are collected in quick response to major moments in history that touch the world of design and manufacturing. Each acquisition raises different questions about globalisation, popular culture, political and social change, demographics, technology, regulation or the law. Taking place during Refugee Week, this session is a timely reflection on events unfolding globally today.
The walk and talk will be followed by a Q&A and an opportunity to stay on late as Dance for Refuge returns to the V&A with another stellar lineup of DJs (until 21.45).
