Using the techniques of acro-balance, also known as human pyramids, Mimbre’s expert facilitators will guide you through a physical warm-up followed by different moves and balances that are inclusive and adaptable to all body types and abilities. You will then be supported to creatively devise your own unique interpretations.
No prior experience is needed! The workshop is open to all levels and abilities and the venue is fully wheelchair accessible. This is an opportunity to work together and learn new skills. Please wear clothing that is suitable to move in. Participants are asked to work barefoot, or if you prefer, you can bring some form of grippy or non-slippery socks.
Mimbre are a Hackney based, female-led acrobatic theatre company, creating delicate, breath-taking and highly-skilled performances using circus and movement as a physical language to illuminate human connections.
This masterclass is part of Young V&A’s Make-Lab series which offers intergenerational learning opportunities for adults and children aged 7-14 years to work with professional artists, learning new creative skills together.
There are two workshop times to choose from: 10.30-12.30 and 14.00-16.00. Please note that adults will only be able to attend alongside a booked child ticket, and children must be accompanied by a booked adult. Due to the nature of the workshop content, it is recommended that there is at least one adult to two young people. You must book a ticket for everyone attending.
Acrobatics is a high-risk activity. Mimbre work with experienced and professional workshop leaders and take measures to create a safe environment and minimise these risks. However, accidents, strains and injuries can still happen and by booking onto this workshop you acknowledge this risk and approve of all those you are booking for to take part in the activity.
