Lunchtime Lecture: Awe and Beauty: Maurice Broomfield’s Industrial Photographs photo

Maurice Broomfield’s spectacular photographs record the changing face of industry in the 1950s and ’60s. He used the factory like a stage set and emphasised the dramatic, romantic, and sometimes surreal scenes of manufacture. Join Martin Barnes, V&A Senior Curator of Photography, as he discusses Broomfield’s fascinating career, meeting Maurice, curating the exhibition and the book, Maurice Broomfield: Industrial Sublime.

Martin Barnes is Senior Curator of Photography at V&A. Maurice Broomfield: Industrial Sublime runs at V&A South Kensington (Room 100, Photography Centre – The Bern and Ronny Schwartz Gallery) until 6th November 2022.
