V&A Academy Unlocked days invite you behind the scenes, bringing you face-to-face with the V&A's extraordinary collections.

The day will begin in the Hochhauser Lecture Theatre with a lecture by the Course Director Jennifer Wearden on the development of botanical art in the 17th and 18th centuries and its influence on textile design. This will be followed by a visit to The Print Room to see textile designs by Anna Maria Garthwaite, an important designer of silk textiles in the first half of the 18th century, and by a walk through the Europe and British Galleries with Dr Silvija Banić, the V&A’s Curator of Textiles.

This Unlocked study day is designed to complement the 12-week online Spring term course ‘Textiles: 1600 - 1800’ led by Jennifer Wearden but you do not need to be enrolled on any online course to join an ‘Unlocked’ event.
