Lady Charlotte Schreiber was one of the most important collectors of ceramics in England in the 19th-century. Over the course of her lifetime she had amassed a remarkable collection of 18th-century ceramics, fans and playing cards. In 1884, Lady Charlotte Schreiber donated the English part of her ceramics collection, over 1800 objects in total, to the South Kensington Museum - one of the largest and most important donations of its kind. Join Assistant Curator, Whitney Kerr-Lewis, as she examines Lady Charlotte Schreiber’s pioneering ceramics collection, exploring, through the lens of nineteenth century collecting culture, what, why and how she collected.
