Join our expert guide to discover how the Mughals of Hindustan influenced the likes of William Morris and Owen Jones. These arbiters of 19th century British design were highly inspired by, and enamoured with, the patterns and motifs of Hindustan, used across a range of media, by artists and artisans working in courtly workshops during the Mughal era.
Members will be guided through the museum’s permanent collections in both the South Asia Gallery and British Galleries. Through these, you will discover how the aesthetic principles visible across material culture produced during the Mughal period went on to directly influence domestic design production and manufacturing in 19th century Britain.
