Entangled Others is an artist duo composed of Feileacan McCormick and Sofia Crespo. Sharing a common interest in nature and aquatic life, and the intersection between art and science, their work reflects on our intricate interrelationships, and nature and its interactions with technology. By using generative technologies critically and creatively, they prompt us to rethink the world beyond a human-centric mindset.

In Sediment Nodes (2022–2023), the artists present an array of artificial organisms and landscapes in sediment-laden waters. While seemingly at first murky and opaque, these waters are full of suspended particles including silt, clay and sand which diffuse light and play host to complicated ecosystems of microorganisms, algae and bacteria. Through neural networks and a generative system, the video work explores the overlooked complexity of this aquatic environment, revealing life, colour and connections within this microscopic world.

Part of the V&A’s inaugural Digital Art Season which runs until 30 November 2024, and addresses questions of technology, creativity and digital culture.
