Feast your eyes on the delectable delights of V&A Gilbert Collection Resident Silvia Weidenbach’s jewellery displayed amongst a buffet of delicious works from the Gilbert Collection. From smooth and refined porcelain boxes made in eighteenth century France to Weidenbach’s complex brooches, let your eyes take their fill. Sample each visual delight. Which object is to your taste? Which are too sweet, and which are just right?
This talk will see Silvia joined by fellow jeweller Christopher Thompson Royds and V&A Curator Charlotte Johnson to discuss this playful intervention which asks visitors to consider notions of good taste and the consumption of luxury goods. How do we enjoy luxury and why are some objects more to our taste than others?
