Step into Spitalfields, one of London's most famous quarters, whose name runs through every part of the V&A's extraordinary collections.
A place of settlement of migrants and site of production of the world-famous silks, seen in the V&A’s textile collections, Spitalfields has been defined by the cultures of Huguenots, Jewish, Irish and Bangladeshi communities over four centuries. Led by V&A Academy director Mike Berlin you will explore off-site to discover the hidden stories and known landmarks around Spitalfields in London's East End to get up close to London’s history 1666 to 1851.
This Unlocked Study Day is designed to complement the course ‘A History of London: 1666 – 1851’ led by Mike Berlin but you do not need to be enrolled on any online course to join an 'Unlocked' event.
V&A Members get priority booking.
