William Morris: In Pursuit of Beauty

Weekend course

+44 (0)20 7942 2000

Celebrate the work of the artist, designer, conservationist, and socialist, William Morris, exploring the art and ideas that laid the foundations for the Arts & Crafts movement. A man of prodigious talents and energy, Morris urged his contemporaries to “have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful and beautiful”. His insistence on artistry, craftsmanship, and quality helped revolutionise the late-Victorian interior, leaving a legacy that is still significant today.

Jo Banham

Jo Banham was Head of the Adult Programmes in the Learning Department at the Victoria & Albert Museum from 2006 - 2016. She is currently co-curator of an exhibition on William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement organised by the Juan March Fundacion, Madrid and the Museu Nacional de Arte Catalunya, Barcelona.

I thoroughly enjoyed the two days. The course leader was very knowledgable, enthusiastic and easy to listen to. The trip to the Print Room to see the samples especially selected for our viewing was a real highlight. William Morris Weekend Course Student 2015/2016
