Introduction to Beekeeping

Prepare yourself for the beekeeping season with the London Honey Company in this session covering all things honeybee and beehive matters. You will be given an overview of key honeybee behaviours from basic honeybee biology and lifecycles to the honeybee waggle dance and keeping your bees healthy. You will also be given practical advice on how a beehive works, what to consider when choosing a hive, the type of protective clothing and equipment needed as well as considerations when setting up a hive and sources for the supply of equipment, bees and queens. Following the session there will be a visit to the V&A Hives (weather permitting).
