The Institute of Art & Law have been offering courses on Art and Law in the UK and abroad for over twenty years and are expert in their field. The V&A and the Institute of Art & Law (IAL) have teamed up to co deliver a two day course for museum and gallery professionals, covering a number of central legal issues relating to acquisition, collections management and curatorship.
Alexander Herman is the Assistant Director of the Institute of Art and Law. He has written, taught and presented on an array of topics in relation to art and cultural property, and oversees for the Institute's distance learning programme, as well as the Diploma course in law for museum professionals.
This course will introduce matters relating to legal title, due diligence and international loans, as well as intellectual property. The course is designed to be a mix of lectures, applied case studies and discussion. It has been co-written and will be co-delivered by Anthony Misquitta, General Counsel at the V&A.
