Curators will showcase a selection of objects to share with you the variety, depth, and ever-expanding nature of digital art from the V&A collection.
Please note, the meeting point for these tours is the Learning Centre for Arts Education, Reception. Taking place in the Prints and Drawings Study Room, they last approximately 20 minutes. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
Part of the V&A’s inaugural Digital Art Season which runs until 30 November 2024, and addresses questions of technology, creativity and digital culture.

Tour 1 | Global Digital Art & Design (12:30)
This object tour will take you on a journey across the Global South to explore the relationship between nature and digital art. Led by Donata Miller-Obebe, Assistant Curator, Africa & Diaspora, this session will consider how to contextualise and surface global narratives.
Tour 2 | Digital on Paper (13:30)
When one thinks of digital art, works on paper might not come to mind. Join William Seung, Assistant Curator, Design and Digital, to look at plotter drawings and other works on paper in the V&A digital art collection.

Tour 3 | Digital Art through the Decades (12:30)
Join PhD Researcher Katherine Mitchell for an exploration of digital art created mainly by women and non-binary artists, programmers and curators over several decades.
Tour 4 | What is Generative Art? (13:30)
Join Melanie Lenz, Curator, Digital Arts as she delves into the digital art collection to explore what happens when artists relinquish creative control to autonomous systems.
