Dinner and a Movie: 'China's Van Goghs' with Director Q&A photo

'China’s Van Goghs' (2016) is an intimate portrait of peasant-turned oil painters transitioning from simply making copies of iconic Western paintings to creating their own works of art, emblematic of the journey that China is going through, from ‘Made in China’ to ‘Created by China’. In celebration of the V&A’s collaboration with China Merchants Shekou to launch China’s first major museum of design in Shekou, we will be screening the documentary, followed by a Q&A with director Kiki Tianqi Yu and a specially created Chinese meal in the Members’ Room.

After its world premiere at IDFA 2016, 'China's van Goghs' has won Best Feature Documentary at Beijing International Documentary Film Festival, Best Director Award at Skip City D-Cinema International Festival Japan, and has been shown at more than 15 film festivals, including Vision Du Reel and Docpoint.
