What can you hear? Pause and listen closely. Beneath the surface of the living garden lie the subtle sounds of moss, soil, insects, and more. Play, experiment, and combine these natural sounds with your own, to bring your own soundscape to life.
This is a free, drop-in activity for families to enjoy together. Suitable for ages 5+, and no child can be left unattended. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time, no booking is required.
Activity designed by Laura Selby and Devanshi Rungta:
Laura Selby is a sound researcher fascinated in revealing hidden worlds from mycelium, moss, concrete to microbes. Her methodologies include extended field recordings, participatory workshops, performance and sculpture to create deeper, empathetic connections and revel in the polyphonic chorus of hidden ecologies.
Devanshi Rungta's diverse practice in the arts focuses on the intersection of education, curation, and community engagement. Through her grassroots work with Art Rickshaw in India, she strives to make arts education accessible. Her approach involves designing public art exhibitions and events, creating meaningful connections with local communities, and advocating for art’s role in fostering societal dialogue.
