Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear
In partnership with Gucci
Historically, men's fashion has been subjected to strict rules and codes of conduct which speak volumes about their rank and identity in society. Today, ideas of masculinity are changing in fashion as in society; what can we learn from new playful narratives of what it means to be male? And how can we harness this moment of transformation to creatively reimagine notions of masculinity through fashion?
Hear from a panel of creatives, including Steven Stokey-Daley and Rahemur Rahman, whose work reframes and redefines the language of clothes. Alongside fashion experts Charlie Porter and Ellie Grace Cumming to unpack this topic with curators Claire Wilcox and Rosalind McKever before grabbing a drink and networking with fellow creative industry peers.
Using the V&A’s major exhibitions as our starting point, the Friday Forums bring together curators, researchers, designers and makers to break down the latest ideas and innovations in design discourse and use this to shape how we look at the future.Standard - £20
