InBetween: A Latinx Takeover photo
Encounter the in-between spaces of east London’s Latinx creative scene as they takeover UCL East in celebration of their heritage and communities. Throughout the night expect everything from DJ sets to spoken word, photography to live art, and more, served alongside food and drink with a Brazilian twist.

Experience DJ sets from Latinx queer club night 2C PERREA, plus live performances from singer-songwriter Montañera, multi-disciplinary artists Daniel Rey, Nina González-Park, José García Oliva, and Diasporas Now, a performance-based community celebrating cross-diasporic identities, including artists Paola Estrella, Kianí del Valle, Kamixlo and Bon Music Vision.

Get hands-on in our workshops. Explore Latinx and Afro-Caribbean art, tradition and self-expression through dance with Popola, fanzine making with CALACA PRESS founder Pedro Reséndez, papier-mâché mango making and painting with Francisca Sosa López, and a singing workshop with Montañera.

Hear spoken word from the founders of The Festival of Queer Literature in Spanish in London, Romancero Books, and join photographers Fernanda Liberti and Michele Baron in conversation with 2C PERREA, discussing the Latinx experience in London. Immerse yourself in specially curated short films from Cinema Mentiré in collab with Spectra. Alongside Lucia Pizzani, Rebeca Romero and Francisca Gajardo, who will showcase multi-media and VR work.

We welcome walk-ups to the event. Photography and filming will take place on the night.

This event is brought to you by V&A East and taking place at UCL East Marshgate.

The use of the term Latinx has been selected carefully to be an inclusive denomination that embraces all gender identities in the programme and seeks to include non-binary and gender non-conforming artists who have historically been unrepresented by traditional terms.

back2back is made possible through support from the Terra Foundation for American Art and co-curated with colleagues, artists, designers and creatives from the Americas and their diasporas in London.
