Claire, paper artist and founder of CARTA & WOOD, will teach you how to create spectacular paper poppies, inspired by the current exhibition The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence. The poppy, with its delicate petals and symbolic significance, has long been associated with remembrance and resilience. In the context of the Mughal period, flowers often held deep meaning in Mughal art and architecture, symbolizing everything from beauty to eternal life.
Throughout this 90 minute session, Claire will guide you step-by-step in crafting realistic paper poppies using various techniques such as cutting, scoring, folding, and layering. The process will encourage mindfulness and a deeper appreciation for the detailed artistry found in both Mughal creations and paper crafts.
