Teachers and students will join designer-artist Jacqui Ramrayka in this live Make-Along hosted on Zoom. Admire some of the imaginative and breath-taking jewellery made by artists and designers that features in the Cartier exhibition. Be inspired to create your own eye-catching accessories from materials you can find in your classroom or home.
For this session, teachers will need to prepare the following materials per student in advance:
1-2 pieces of min A4 card per student (this can be waste material like an old cereal packet or paper plate)
1-2 sheets of min A4 aluminium foil
2 handfuls of macaroni pasta per student pre-painted in different colours and gold (or students can pre-prepare cut up straws and cover them in tissue paper or coloured paper)
1-2 straws (paper or waste plastic) per student
1-2 sheets of tissue paper
Feathers
Plastic waste bottle tops and/or other small plastic waste materials
Scissors
Paint brushes
Coloured and gold paint (if you haven’t got gold, try yellow paint)
Glue (School/PVA glue)
Needle and thread/wool or elastic/nylon string or cord
Instructions (will be shared before the Makealong with booked schools for printing or screening)
Please note, the quantities given above are per student - please multiply up according to your group size. Suggestion – why not set a class or home learning activity to collect intricate, patterned or shiny and faceted waste or craft materials around their home to use for the session?
Once you register, you will receive further information about the session, including step by step slides or instructions showing you what the students will be making in the session.
The session will support the following components of the KS1 and KS2 National Curriculum –
