To celebrate the publication of their new books, Ben Pentreath will be in conversation with Thomas Heatherwick and culture commentator Nancy Durrant, discussing contemporary architecture and urban design. Drawing on decades of shared experience, fighting for the design values they each espouse, Ben and Thomas will debate the roles of tradition and modernity, the idea of emotion as a function of design, and different ways to deliver the kind of human-centred buildings that people are crying out for. In a talk illustrated by stunning images from both their careers, this event will ask what does society need today from building designers and why does so much new development repeatedly fail to deliver it?

This talk will be held on Zoom, and all ticketholders will receive a link to view on the morning of the event, as well as the opportunity to watch later.
