The making process starts with cutting washi (traditional Japanese paper) into very fine strips which are spun by hand into yarn. The yarn is then woven into a piece of paper cloth called ‘Shifu’.

Paper cloth is an organic, sustainable and biodegradable alternative to cotton that is both strong and pliable, which is consistent with the unique characteristics of Mino washi paper. Come and learn a traditional Japanese technique and enjoy the transformation of Japanese paper into a textile.
