Today digital art is a rapidly expanding field which elicits mixed reactions. Join curator Melanie Lenz as she explores different ways of thinking about the topic and delves into the histories of computer art drawing on the V&A collections. Melanie Lenz the curator of Digital Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum where she is responsible for developing the museum’s digital art collections. In 2023-2024 she co-curated the V&A display Patric Prince: Digital Art Visionary and co-edited a recently published book entitled Digital Art: 1960 to Now (2024). Melanie has published papers on generative art (2024), early computer art in Latin America (2018), gender, art and technology (2014), collecting and conserving digital art (2011).

Part of the V&A’s inaugural Digital Art Season which runs until 30 November 2024, and addresses questions of technology, creativity and digital culture.
