Shipwrecked treasure and ancient jewellery

Rare and beautiful treasures sometimes only survive because they have been lost for generations. But what happens when they are miraculously rediscovered?

Dug from the earth, salvaged from the bottom of the ocean, mudlarked from riverbeds – we’ve delved deep into our collections to surface ancient jewellery and other incredibly precious objects, which exist today thanks to a quirk of fate. From a solid gold shipwrecked cup, to a contemporary treasure made from Tudor sea glass, to a ring made from mudlarkers' finds, join curator Sophie as she reveals the visible traces of their long histories, and asks what is it that makes these objects so special?
