Menopause in maiolica: Katrin Moye's ceramics

Meet Katrin Moye – witty, warm and unapologetically naughty, she might be the cheekiest potter in England.

Her bold, colourful ceramics reference an Italian Renaissance style called maiolica, characterised by bright, colourful decoration and tin glaze, but with a playful twist. Poking fun at tradition, she blends historical shapes and decorative techniques with literature, 18th-century dirty jokes and present day experience. Join us for a sneak peek around her Nottingham studio where we see Katrin throwing on the pottery wheel, hand building, using pottery tools and decorating an amazing tile panel, adorned with Renaissance slang words for genitals. Discover the story behind her 'Cerebrum nebula' ('brain fog') vase, a playful, personal ode to her experience of menopause, now in the V&A's collection.
