Co-founder of ART SCHOOL, a genderless fashion label that centred queer identity in the design process, Eden Loweth is known for embracing bodies beyond the binary in his work. His creative practice has a particular focus on collaboration, leading him to work with some of the most prominent established and emerging creatives of our time.
Painter and sculptor Maggi Hambling was the first Artist in Residence at the National Gallery in London from 1980 – 81, and is regarded as one of the UK's greatest artists. Her work is held in public collections in the UK (including the V&A, Tate, British Museum, and National Portrait Gallery) and across the world (such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and CAFA, Beijing).
In this evocative new catwalk collection, Loweth uses Hambling's dynamic paintings as a starting point, responding to her distinctive gestural mark-making and interpreting this through his own individuality.
The shows will be held in tribute to the late filmmaker Derek Jarman, who was both a great friend of Hambling and a personal inspiration to Loweth.
Four shows will take place on Friday 31 January at 13.00, 15.00, 17.00 and 20.00, in the V&A South Kensington Raphael Court.
Free tickets will be available from this page on 23 January at 10.00
