This stunning stylised illustration was created by Aubrey Beardsley in 1893 to accompany the first edition of Oscar Wilde's Salome and is held in the V&A archive.
Beardsley is remembered for his monochrome ink pieces investigating the absurd and the obscene, and was instrumental in the development of the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th century.
