Capturing the exquisite glamour of Paris in the Art Deco period, George Barbier’s hand-coloured process engraving fashion plate dates from 1923 and is held in the V&A archive. One of the great illustrators of his era, the fashionable and flamboyant Barbier was known for his theatre sets, ballet costumes, book illustrations and haute couture fashion plates.
