The V&A Dundee is the living room for the city, as its architect Kengo Kuma describes it. Scotland has for centuries been the birthplace of and home to great designers and V&A Dundee celebrates that history and reminds us of the richness of today’s Scottish design.

The V&A Dundee was born in around 2007 and many people in Dundee, in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK have played a a part in its creation.

This publication celebrates the realisation of the project: the opening of a new design institution for Scotland in its inspiring home on Dundee’s waterfront. It is a living institution which will help represent the city in people’s minds here and around the world in a vital and inspiring way, helping to make new connections and generate new creativity long into the future.
