Join us at DCA for an exclusive Q&A with two award-winning costume designers
In celebration of Kimono: Kyoto To Catwalk and in collaboration with Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), join two of Hollywood’s most in-demand costume designers to discover how rich and detailed wardrobes on screen can transport us to a time and place and help bring characters to life.
From the influence of trade on material and colour, to the precise pleat quantities signifying rank, Carlos Rosario and his team’s deep dive into kimono from feudal Japan has earned widespread acclaim for FX/Disney+’s Shōgun (2023 – present) and broke records at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
Joining the stage is Dundee’s own Jane Petrie, the multi-award-winning costume designer behind the films Moon (2009) and ’71 (2014), and TV productions such as The Crown (2016-23), Black Mirror (2011-16) and Foundation (2023 – present).
Please note, this event will be hosted at DCA in Cinema 1.
