Open Iftar at V&A Dundee

Join us for the UK's largest Ramadan cultural event

Open to people of all faith backgrounds and none, Open Iftar is part of Ramadan Festival 2024, which looks to bring communities together and spreads the spirit of Ramadan through various initiatives.

What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by fasting from dawn till sunset, prayer, reflection, and charity, ending with a celebration called 'Eid al-Fitr'.

What is Iftar?
Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. It's a significant part of the Ramadan observance, often shared with family and community.

Schedule:
18:30 – Doors open
19:30 – Programme starts
20:00 – Open fast, followed by call to prayer
20:30 – Food served
21:30 – Event closes
