Explore the design process from raw yarn to completed outfit with Coorie Creative

Join local weaving studio Coorie Creative in our residency studio as they push the boundaries of tartan design by repurposing waste material into new cloth, using a fusion of Japanese and traditional Scottish techniques.

The full handweaving design process will be on show, from an initial brief through the process of planning the handwoven piece to the final construction of the garment.

The space will be set up as a working handweaving design studio with samples of the work in progress and previously finished pieces – bringing to life the possibilities of this most sustainable of weaving techniques.

Open every day for the duration of the residency, drop-in to learn more about Coorie Creative’s approach to sustainable and socially responsible weaving. In addition, from Wednesday to Sunday each week, meet members of Coorie Creative, see live weaving projects in action and try your hand at some of the techniques on show.

Coorie Creative is a social enterprise fashion and textile studio in Stirling that supports survivors of trauma or loss and those at risk of social isolation in their community.
